My observations are that we have some wonderful people here in Henry County running our day-to-day operations. I feel that even though they are great leaders, the department heads need a hand to facilitate better results for our citizens, because the need is right now.

In my current employment, I have a front row seat to witness: the adult and juvenile mental health crisis here in Henry County; drug addiction issues affecting our very own families, friends and neighbors; homelessness that is becoming more and more visible to all that visit our county. This is why I have chosen to run for commissioner. I want to do something positive about all of these issues.

I am a former New Castle Police Officer and former DARE instructor. I taught hundreds of New Castle 5th grade students by facilitating the DARE program at our local elementary schools. It warms my heart when one of my prior students comes to me and says they still remember a life lesson I taught them that they now share with their own children.

I was also the co-director of a multi-jurisdictional drug task force for almost a decade. In that role, I acquired invaluable successful grant writing skills at the local, state and federal level, I also made time to be the Chief Deputy Coroner of Henry County for many years serving as a certified death investigator. The private sector came calling when I was about to turn 50.

I secured federal security clearance and soon became a supervisor of a monthly rotation team of 20 to 30 account representatives responsible for as much as 200 million dollars in loans. COVID came and turned all of us upside down and, again, I answered the call. I took a contract supervisor position with the Indiana Department of Work Force Development, managing as many as 50 call center representatives at one time in three states.

Some of you reading this now have already approached me with thanks for assisting with COVID relief funds. This is why I am running for commissioner. I live for the times people come up to me or text and say ‘Thank you.’

Life seems to have come full circle for me. I have had the privilege of testifying in some Henry County high profile cases in the very court room where the commissioners now hold their meetings. It would be my honor if you would trust me with your vote so that I may return to a seat at the table in that very special room.
